Apollo, my Kangal mongrel dog † January 2016 – from the Greek animal welfare – photographed in a dandelion meadow when he was 5 years old ♥ For me one of my most beautiful pictures that remind me of this particular dog. Apollo was found as a puppy with his two siblings and his mother on a beach in Greece – Thessaloniki and was soon flown to a nursing station in Bavaria.
There I brought the beautiful puppy with 12 weeks to our home and suddenly nothing was as it once was 🙂

Dogs from the animal welfare – curse or blessing? If you’re lucky it can be fine, but it’s not as easy as getting a puppy from a good breeder. Many dogs from the animal protection, above all from the foreign animal protection have a negative history or simply nothing experienced. The imprinting and socialization phase can not be made up for.

However, a lot is possible if you build a close bond with the dog, have good nerves and have the time to work with it daily. Education should not be confused with feeding. The education of a dog involves much more.

It often takes years to relax in public with a poorly socialized dog. When you get a dog out of animal welfare, look at the dogs and the organization. Not every street dog wants to be saved.
